Amãna Bank relocates its Galle Branch

Having had its presence in the historic town of Galle since 2006, Amãna Bank recently relocated its Galle Branch to a more specious and customer friendly location at 24 Old Matara Road, Galle.

The Branch relocation opening ceremony was graced by Honourable Mayor of Galle Mr Methsiri De Silva, Chief Executive Officer Mr Mohamed Azmeer, Director of Amãna Bank Mr Jazri Magdon Ismail, senior management of the Bank, customers and other invited dignitaries.

Speaking at the ceremony the Bank’s CEO Mr Azmeer said “While portraying its rich heritage and traditions, the city of Galle is a major development hub. We are happy to strengthen our footprint in this great locality and support this development drive with our unique and people friendly banking model.


With our new branch premises we are equipped to provide a better and convenient service to our customers.” The Galle branch has also setup a dedicated SME centre for its business customers.

Also sharing his views Hon. Mayor of Galle Mr Methsiri De Silva said “I appreciate the contribution made by Amãna Bank in supporting local businesses and individuals.


I believe their unique banking model is appropriate for enabling sustainable economic growth. I am sure from their new location that they will do a yeomen service toward the betterment of its customers.”

In commemoration of the relocation ceremony the Bank also initiated a tree planting campaign in association with the Biodiversity Education and Explorations Society in Kurunda Kanda, Labuduwa Galle.


This event was attended by senior management and staff of the Bank as well as members of the Biodiversity Education and Explorations Society.

Amãna Bank is the first Licensed Commercial Bank in Sri Lanka to operate in complete harmony with the non-interest based Islamic banking model and is listed on the Diri Savi Board of the Colombo Stock Exchange.


The Bank was recently recognized as the World’s Best ‘Up-and-Comer’ Islamic Bank by ‘Global Finance Magazine’ at the 18th Annual World’s Best Banks Award Ceremony 2014 held in Washington DC, USA, which coincided with the annual IMF and World Bank Conference.
