“We are a company that contributes towards the community because we believe business is not only about profit but also helping our community grow,” said Nandana Wickramage, Group Director and Head of Marketing and Sales.
“42% of our projects have been school based and 29% were to provide clean drinking water. These may seem like simple things but they make a world of difference to the people in the communities we help.”
To address the needs of the community CBL's field sales staff, which amount to around 500, regularly interact with local community leaders to identify potential projects. After careful consideration 5 projects are chosen each month for execution.
CBL works closely with all relevant stakeholders to complete its projects as community participation is an integral part of its CSR initiatives.
This participation leads to a sense of community ownership and greater appreciation of the project benefits.
