These awards recognize and honor the exceptional achievements of young individuals aged 15 to 30 years, spanning various categories, including School Students, Undergraduates, Entrepreneurs, Innovators, Influencers, Employees, Sports personalities, media, corporates focused on youth, arts, agriculture, social workers and more.
The New Generation Awards was established by Women in Management in 2020 to celebrate the remarkable contributions and accomplishments of young people who are shaping the future across diverse fields.
The awards serve as a platform to acknowledge their dedication, innovation and commitment to driving positive change in their communities and beyond.
This year’s New Generation Awards will be held under the theme, ‘Daring to Differ’, challenging the youth to be different.
The program will be ignited by ‘Sooriya’ as platinum sponsor, and a key partner for the 3rd consecutive year.
Discussing the 2023 edition of the New Generation Awards at the special Media Launch Event, Kasun Sigera - Chairman of the WIM New Generation Chapter said
“Our aim is to cultivate, acknowledge and incentivize a fresh group of forward-thinking young individuals who possess a visionary outlook, driven to contribute to the revitalization of Sri Lanka.
We have unwavering faith in the potential of this emerging generation to bring about global distinctions, fueled by a sense of appreciation for their motherland, fellow citizens and the environment.”
Highlighting the historic milestone as the first Gen Z representative to lead the National Youth Service Council (NYSC), an important platform for the Sri Lankan youth, Chairman/ Director General of the NYSC, Pasindu Guneratne said,
“The remarkable youth of Sri Lanka who have dared to be a part of the nation’s recovery and development, are an inspiration for all of us.
Their boldness, resilience, and innovative spirit have paved the path of progress.
I invite these young individuals, who fearlessly step forward to make a positive impact and shape a brighter future for our beloved country, to nominate themselves to be role models and an inspiration to others like them.”
Representing the Panel of Judges, Prof. (Dr) Ravi Dissanayake of the Department of Marketing Management at the University of Kelaniya said,
“Our evaluation process is not to select a winner but to search for and recognize the kind of character that can drive a winning future for Sri Lanka.”
Dr. Sulochana Segera the founder of New Generation Chapter concluded the media launch event saying,
“In a dynamic year of global economic shifts and technological advancements, Sri Lanka stands at a crucial juncture where the active involvement of its youth in economic leadership is not just a preference, but a necessity.
Recognizing this imperative, leaders and stakeholders across the nation are rallying to harness the potential of the youth to drive sustainable economic growth and prosperity.”
How to Nominate: Nominations are open to the public till 31st August 2023 and can be submitted through the official New Generation Awards website – www.womeninmanagementawards.org – with self-nominations also being encouraged.
Nominators are required to provide detailed information about the nominee’s achievements, along with supporting documentation and references.
This year’s Panel of Judges includes a distinguished lineup of professionals from various domains, including Mr. Pasindu Guneratne – Chairman NYSC; Prof. Ravi Dissanayake – Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya; Mr. Sudarshana Gunawardana – Chairman of ITN; Dr. Yashoda Velananda – Founder/CEO of Inexis Consulting and Director at YWayz; Mr. Rohan Maskorala – CEO of Shippers Academy; Ms. Zahara Anzary – Country Manager Country Manager, AICPA & CIMA; and Ms. Thamari Senanyake – Director Public Affairs, Communication & Sustainability, Coca Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd. Their collective expertise will play a crucial role in evaluating and recognizing outstanding nominees.
