The event provided a platform for alumni to reconnect, share experiences and explore new opportunities together.
The highlight of the event was Citi presenting Kapila Jayawardena, Group Managing Director LOLC Group with the ‘Citi Distinguished Alumni Award’.
The annual Distinguished Alumni Award is conferred on Citi alumni who are exceptional achievers and leaders in their field.
Sri Lanka Citi Country Officer, Ravin Basnayake, while presenting the award shared,
“Each year a Citi senior leadership panel reviews all nominations sent from across Citi’s global network to select the winners of this prestigious award.
This year we are elated to celebrate Kapila Jayawardena who is amongst 25 alumni award recipients from across the globe, and this truly serves as a testament to his outstanding leadership qualities and unwavering commitment ”.
Kapila Jayawardena joined Citi in 1980 and was appointed Country Head / Citi Country Officer in 1998.
After a successful tenure of 27 years holding various key positions in treasury, operations and corporate banking he decided to leave Citi to join Sri Lanka’s largest non-banking financial institution LOLC Group.
He was presented with this award for his exceptional leadership and contribution in transforming LOLC Group to be Sri Lanka’s most diversified local conglomerate with a global presence.
After receiving the award, Kapila Jayawardena, expressing his heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in recognizing him with the award, emphasized how profoundly the lessons learnt during his time at Citi have significantly shaped him today and contributed to his personal and professional growth.
Kapila also acknowledged the presence of successful Citi alumni at the event, showcasing Citi’s reputation for nurturing talent and fostering success.
Launched in 2012, the Citi Alumni Network is an official global initiative.
Since then, the Citi Alumni Network has significantly grown and now boasts a strong network of more than 39,000 members worldwide.
