This newly conceptualized Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program aims to provide a helping hand to support men and women with disabilities who otherwise would be excluded from society.
Shree FM aims to use this medium to assist people with disabilities back into society, by offering support, be it financial or otherwise, with the goal of facilitating their true independence.
Particularly noteworthy about the ‘Shree FM Laksha 100 Shree Mahaa Pudumaya’ promotional campaign, a Sri Lanka-first, is its ambitious plan to eventually span the entire country, with 200 villages and towns expected to be covered within the next 100 days, a feat that is also meant to commemorate Shree FM's unique island-wide radio frequencies of 100.0 FM and 100.2 FM.
Importantly, Shree FM is ready to offer a true support infrastructure, having made provision to provide a number of items that can potentially aid the program's recipients, from motor vehicles and land, to school supplies, and even electronic household items.
A recent example is that of loyal Shree FM listener Samanthika, who has already significantly been benefited as one of the first recipients of the ‘Shree FM Laksha 100 Shree Mahaa Pudumaya’ promotion.
A single mother of three children, Samanthika struggles to make ends meet and has no home to call her own.
As soon as she called the radio station and told the announcers her courageous life story, Shree FM's new CSR program kicked into high gear.
The program enabled her to rent a house in close proximity to Karapitiya Hospital, where she needs to take her youngest child for weekly medical treatments.
Thanks to ‘Shree FM Laksha 100 Shree Mahaa Pudumaya’, Samanthika is now also in the process of having her own house built for her and her children.
This is just one of the individuals already being assisted by the Shree FM's first-in-Sri Lanka CSR initiative.
Commenting, EBC Radio Chief Operating Officer Chalaka Gajabahu said, “As Sri Lanka's leading radio channel, Shree FM is strongly committed to aiding its loyal listeners in as many ways as possible.
By focusing on people with disabilities, we feel we can offer a helping hand by way of financial, or other relevant support – we are doing all it takes to help uplift their lives, while also creating opportunities for true independence.
We would also like to invite all of you who wish to be a part of this massive CSR project, or even those just wishing for a chance to make their dreams come true, to tune into Shree FM island-wide on 100 and 100.2 FM to find out more."
