Trail, Sri Lanka’s largest ever crowd funded charitable initiative, raised US$ 2.6 million in 2011 to build the Tellippalai Trail Cancer Hospital.
The hospital is the third largest National Hospital in the country serving 4,500 patients across the Northern, North Central and Eastern regions of Sri Lanka.
Akbar Brothers is the leading exporter of tea from Sri Lanka and its Foundation established in 2009 is a charitable organization focusing on housing, healthcare and education in Sri Lanka.
Trail is a 670 km walk from Dondra Head in the South to Point Pedro in the North, over the course of 28 days, with the objective of honouring and helping those fighting cancer.
The founders of Trail, Nathan Sivagananathan and Sarinda Unamboowe will walk the whole distance of 670 km this year as well from October 6th to November 2nd 2016.
Trail 2016 aims to raise USD 5 million to finance the expansion of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle.

Akbar KAF Foundation made a donation USD 100, 000 to Trail 2016.
The donation will go towards building a cancer unit at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, Galle.
