The Company has opened these camps to all its stakeholders including employees, customers, suppliers, partners and residents in the respective areas to give back to the community that has made its success possible and in appreciation of the support that the Company has received over the years.
Blood donation camps have already been held at Ceylinco Life’s Head Office, and in Kandy, Ratnapura, Anuradhapura, Jaffna and Batticaloa.
Nine more collection events are to be held in Matara, Horana, Gampaha, Chilaw, Negombo, Kurunegala, Galle, Bandarawela, and Trincomalee.
In addition to the stakeholders, inspired employees from other institutions and members of the armed forces too have participated in these camps to donate blood.
This initiative conducted in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS), is Ceylinco Life’s first programme of the sort to involve multiple regions of the country, and has to date seen the participation of more than 600 people from across Sri Lanka.
Information about the blood donation camps in the different areas is shared via the Facebook page of Ceylinco Life, inviting the general public to be a part of this meritorious initiative.
As per medical guidelines, any healthy individual weighing 50kgs or above and aged between 18 to 60 years can donate blood.
Donors should be free of medication and should have had a restful sleep the previous night, avoid heavy exercise, smoking, consuming alcohol, and caffeine.
Among the other initiatives linked to Ceylinco Life’s celebration of 15 consecutive years of market leadership in 2019 was the recent donation of 500 square-foot, four-bed High Dependency Unit (HDU) costing Rs 11.5 million to the Kandy Teaching Hospital.
