Ceylinco Life donates vital PPE to 111 police stations in Western Province

Ceylinco Life has reaffirmed its support to people at the frontline of the country’s battle against the spread of COVID-19 with a donation of vitally-important personal protection equipment to the Sri Lanka Police.

The life insurance leader’s donation of face shields and reusable personal protection kits will benefit 111 police stations in the three districts of the Western Province, the area worst-affected by the second wave of the pandemic.

The process of distributing the donated equipment began with a presentation to three police stations in the Colombo Metro area by Ceylinco Life Chairman Mr R. Renganathan and directors of the Company.

The equipment was accepted on behalf of the Sri Lanka Police by Deputy Inspector General of Police – Colombo, Mr Sisira Kumara.

Teams from Ceylinco Life branches in the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara Districts will thereafter deliver the donated equipment to each of the beneficiary police stations.

“This donation is just a token of our unreserved appreciation of the vital role that thousands of police officers are playing at great personal risk, to protect the citizens of our country from this deadly pandemic,” Ceylinco Life Managing Director Mr Thushara Ranasinghe said.

Ceylinco Life is a consistent donor of essential equipment and infrastructure facilities to government medical institutions.

In April this year, the Company donated two high-end non-invasive ventilators to the government to support efforts to treat people infected by COVID-19.

Earlier this year it also donated a fully-renovated and re-equipped Day Chemotherapy Unit for the treatment of cancer patients to the Trincomalee General Hospital and has previously donated fully-equipped and furnished High Dependency Units (HDUs) to five government hospitals – the Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH), the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila and the Kandy Teaching Hospital.
