Faculty at the SLIIT - CISCO Networking Academy, have also received prestigious recognition as Expert Level Instructors for 2013 and 2012 consecutively, from CISCO Systems. Of special note is the recognition conferred upon Uditha Gamage - SLIIT Head/ITSD and CISCO Instructor - by CISCO Systems, for his dedicated and active contribution throughout the past decade towards the success of the CISCO Networking Academy Program.
Over the years, the CISCO Networking Academy at SLIIT, has received prominence through numerous awards, as a result of its focused dedication towards supporting students to gain the skills needed to build, design, and maintain computer networks.
While thanking the CISCO Instructors for their continuous support, Gamage said, “Currently three of the instructors have achieved the premier Cisco Systems Expert Level Instruction award. The Programme at the SLIIT CISCO Networking Academy has also been recognized for its dedication over the past 10 years, by the CISCO systems Inc.” Highlighting the recent awards received by the CISCO Academy, President and CEO of SLIIT, Professor Lalith Gamage stated, “Competing amongst regional CISCO Instructors, our Faculty won the 2nd place at the Regional (India and SAARC Region) Packet Tracer Network Design Activity Contest conducted by CISCO Systems International in June 2011. Being one of the first to complete it within the SAARC Region, Uditha has also obtained the comprehensive CISCO Instructor Qualification Certification conducted by CISCO Systems in year 2011.”
SLIIT, a partner of CISCO, acts as the CISCO Academy to train students in this professional qualification and is the established CISCO Instructor Training Center for the training of CISCO Academy instructors. In addition, SLIIT was also granted the role of being the ‘CISCO Academy Support Center (ASC) for Sri Lanka and Maldives’ to ensure and maintain the high quality of the Program at all CISCO Academies.
In 2007, SLIIT received the CISCO Global Recognition Award, the Best CISCO Local Academy SAARC award and in 2008, the ASIAPAC Recognition award for its outstanding Contribution. In 2009, two teams from SLIIT bagged the first and second place titles at the CISCO 1st National Netriders Skills Competition. Maintaining the winning streak, in 2010, SLIIT earned the first, second and third place at the same competition and in 2014, SLIIT emerged first and second runner up.
SLIIT CISCO Academy offers CCNA Routing and Switching, CCNP, CCNA Security, CISCO IT Essentials Courses. SLIIT CISCO Instructors have updated their knowledge in attending many International Workshops and Conferences, such as the SAARC CISCO Council Meeting, Workshop and Asia Pacific CISCO Council Meeting and Workshop.
