The 'Capital Market Masters' competitions were organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Presidential Secretariat.
The completion of the provincial level competitions sets the stage for the highly anticipated national level competition.
Cluster 03 Competition
The Cluster 03 competition featured 11 prominent schools from the Central Province and was held on 2nd August 2024 at Sampath Hall, Kandy with Dharmaraja College – Kandy emerging as the victor.
Cluster 04 Competition
The Cluster 04 competition featuring 38 schools from the Western, Southern, and Sabaragamuwa Provinces was held on 5th August 2024, at the World Trade Centre.
Ananda College & Royal College emerged as the overall winners of the Cluster 04 competition as well as the joint champions of the Western Province. R/Sivali Central College and H/Tangalle Balika Vidyalaya triumphed in the Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces, respectively.
Addressing the students at the recent competition, Deputy Director General of the SEC, Mr. Tushara Jayaratne stated,
“The SEC is committed to enhancing financial literacy across various segments of society.
Building financial literacy from a young age is crucial for long-term success.
By starting early, individuals can develop healthy financial habits and gain confidence in their ability to handle their finances effectively throughout their lives.
We take particular satisfaction in our initiatives aimed at promoting financial education among school children, as these efforts help empower the investors of tomorrow.”
