The Conference was organized by the Bangladesh Society of Human Resources Management (BSHRM) and attracted over 600 delegates from across Bangladesh representing private sector companies, banks, officials from the Bangladesh public sector, government officials and international delegates from regional countries.
Along with the Conference, the inaugural HR Exchange Programme between IPM Sri Lanka and BSHRM took place where IPM Sri Lanka participants attending the Conference were given the opportunity to visit, study and experience HR practices at Bangladeshi companies and factories.
The Sri Lanka delegation comprised of IPM members led by Namal Jayaweera, Dr. Badraarachige and Samantha Rathnayake, Faculty Member.
Back to back with this Conference, the Board Meeting of the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resources Management (APFHRM) - the regional HR body which represents the prestigious World Federation of People Management (WFPM) was held.
“We are pleased to note that IPM Sri Lanka’s proposal on APFHRM Accreditation for HR study programmes was also discussed, and it was agreed to finalize the pilot project in 2 months.
This programme will offer great opportunities to raise the standards of HR education in the region including in Sri Lanka” said Janaka Kumarasinghe-Chairman International Affairs Committee, IPM Sri Lanka who is also the Vice President representing the India sub-continent on the APFHRM Board.
“These initiatives involving regional exchange programmes, sharing of resource persons internationally and Accreditation for study programmes are part of IPM Sri Lanka’s goal of promoting HR professionals with a global mindset in order to take Sri Lanka to the next level of national development” said Rohitha Amarapala-President, IPM Sri Lanka.
“We are pleased that IPM Sri Lanka’s participation in such global and regional programmes would also give an opportunity to develop our younger HRM talent as most of the participants from Sri Lanka in such events are also lecturers and resource persons in HR management” he added.
IPM Sri Lanka keeps pace with new trends and concepts in the HR industry by continuously engaging with the business community to share experience, thoughts and insights in order to enrich and enhance the HR profession.
It actively encourages and promotes members’ participation at international conferences and fora to provide relevant exposure, build networks and conduct research in areas of interest to the HR profession in Sri Lanka.
IPM Sri Lanka was founded in 1959 and was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976.
IPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Human Resources Management and also to the World Federation of People Management Association.
IPM, being a professional institute is also a constituent member of the Organization of Professional Associations [OPA] Sri Lanka.
Currently IPM comprises of over 1000 Professional Members who serve in both public and private sector organizations.
