CIPM and University of Ruhuna to Develop Institutional Collaboration in HRM

Businesscafe Your Business Media Partner - CIPM Sri Lanka – the Nation’s leader in human resource management and the Faculty of Management & Finance of the University of Ruhuna entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) recently to build up mechanisms to strengthen, promote and develop institutional level collaboration and interaction in the field of human resource management.

Jayantha Amarasinghe-President, CIPM Sri Lanka and Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena-Vice Chancellor, University of Ruhuna signed the MOU on behalf of CIPM and the University of Ruhuna respectively.

Weerathunge-Chief Officer/Director, Professional and Academic Affairs CIPM, Janaka De Silva – Committee Member, Professional and Academic Affairs CIPM, W. D. R. Senadeera - Committee Member, Professional and Academic Affairs CIPM joined with Professor Samantha Kumara-Dean, Faculty of Management & Finance, Dr. Bandula Galhena-Head, Department of Human Resource Management of the University of Ruhuna and other officials of CIPM and the University of Ruhuna at the University premises in Matara to launch the historic partnership.


“We are confident that this mutually beneficial partnership of collaboration and interaction will be a platform for developing and broad-basing professional human resource management skills and competencies while providing additional opportunities for self-development” said Jayantha Amerasinghe-President, CIPM Sri Lanka.


Under the terms of the MOU, CIPM will award a Gold Medal and a cash award to the most outstanding student in HRM and a merit scholarship for a student in HRM to follow CIPM’s professional study programmes each year while the HRM graduates of the of the Faculty of Management & Finance of the University will be provided with the opportunity to apply for CIPM affiliate membership.


CIPM will also provide opportunities for the academic staff members of the Department of Human Resource Management of the University to participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences conducted by CIPM on themes of HRM discipline and topics, provide opportunities to serve as resource personnel in the conduct of academic and professional programmes including study programmes, seminars, workshops, and conferences in HRM, and vice-versa thereby mutually broadening the horizons of the academic staff members.


“We are delighted to enter into this mutually beneficial memorandum of understanding with CIPM Sri Lanka which will provide an additional gateway to our HRM students to professional qualifications which are highly recognized by the industry and more opportunities for our academic staff hone their skills” said Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena-Vice Chancellor, University of Ruhuna.


CIPM and the Department of HRM will also undertake research work relating to the discipline of HRM.


The University of Ruhuna will take necessary steps to recognize CIPM’s Chartered Qualification in Human Resource Management (CQHRM) which was previously known as Professional Qualification in Human Resource Management as an entry qualification for post graduate studies in the field of management conducted by the University of Ruhuna.
