Dettol with its Puruddata Huru Wemu campaign launches Maathru Suwadiriya seminar

Businesscafe - One of the world’s foremost hygienic and anti-bacterial brands, Dettol, recently launched the ‘Maathru Suwadiriya’ seminar series, in an effort to raise awareness on, and inculcate appropriate hygiene practices and proper nutrition among pregnant mothers.

The first seminar under the initiative was held on January 25, 2023, at the Pradeshiya Sabha Auditorium in the Angunukolapalassa MOH area, with over 500 pregnant mothers taking part.

Substantial contributions towards the initiative were also made by the Medical Health Office in the Hambantota District, along with the participation of doctors, midwives and public health inspectors (PHIs), who guided the pregnant mothers on maintaining good hygiene and nutrition as well as caretaking through a series of educational lectures.

In addition, the programme also held sessions on uplifting psychological wellbeing of mothers and children, which were followed by a Music Therapy session, where mothers were guided on how music can enable a more developmental environment for both the mother and baby.

Commenting on the initiative, Dettol Brand Manager Lilani Rajapakse said:

“As hygiene and care have been at the forefront of our business since inception, we feel that it is our responsibility to give a helping hand to essential communities, in this case pregnant mothers.

Our objective is to uplift the general awareness among pregnant mothers, who will be equipped with the knowledge to keep their pre- and post-maternal journey hygienic and practical throughout.”

This first educational seminar marks the first of many more that are scheduled to be held to uplift the awareness of pregnant mothers across the island.

In the first phase, a total of 10 seminars will be conducted around the Hambantota District, the first of which was held at Angunukolapalassa.

“We are committed to enhancing the lives and health of people in all communities, and the Dettol brand has been an integral component in justifying our message to the masses.

We aim to expand our vision through Dettol Puruddata Huru Wemu campaign on a national level, with strategically developed initiatives such as ‘Maathru Suwadiriya’, and many other similar initiatives,” noted Reckitt Benckiser Marketing Manager – Health, Chathurika Fonseka.
