Ceylinco Life opens 5 floor Green Branch on company land in Nelliady

Ceylinco Life has opened its newest Green Branch in Nelliady, a purpose-designed five-floor edifice built on the third block of land owned by the Company in the Jaffna peninsula.

The eco-friendly building located at No. 293, Point Pedro Road, Nelliady, provides 8,692 square feet of floor space and is the 38th branch built by Ceylinco Life overall on company-owned land, and the first company-owned property in the Vadamarachchi region.

The Nelliady branch is designed for optimal use of natural light, is entirely solar powered, and has its own sewerage recycling system.

It is also equipped with the latest energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning systems and has a rainwater harvesting facility.

Constructed in conformity with the ‘Green Building’ specifications adopted by the life insurance leader, the building has its own car park, a multi-function room that can accommodate up to 60 people at a time, an elevator and porous interlocking blocks to increase green patches in the premises, the Company said.

The branch was completed 16 months after the laying of the foundation stone, despite the challenges imposed by the pandemic.

The formal opening of the new building was presided over by Ceylinco Life Chairman Mr Rajkumar Renganathan and was attended by directors and representatives of the senior management.

In September last year, Ceylinco Life declared open another impressive five-storey ‘North Wing’ next to its older office building in Jaffna.

Extending to 17,290 square feet, the North Wing building is the second largest investment made by the company to date in a building, next to its headquarters in Colombo.

In January this year the Company opened its 37th branch on company-owned land at Malabe, is in the process of constructing Green buildings for its branches in Divulapitiya and Piliyandala, and is also extending the capacity of its Negombo branch.

Ceylinco Life currently owns the buildings housing its offices in Anuradhapura, Trincomalee, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Kandy, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Galle, Matara, Tissamaharama, Negombo, Ratnapura, Kotahena, Mount Lavinia and Wellawatte, many of which have already been converted to solar energy.

New branch buildings purpose-built to the company’s sustainable energy model are those at Horana, Panadura, Wennappuwa, Bandarawela, Chilaw, Kadawatha, Jaffna and Malabe.
