Illustrating the point, a policyholder from Manippai in Jaffna won the grand prize of Rs 1 million in gold, while winners of the other high-value prizes of the precious metal were chosen from around the island, including Nuwara Eliya, Matugama, Kalmunai, Gampola and Negombo.
A total of 103 Ceylinco Life policyholders were selected for the Rs 5 million to be awarded at this final draw, taking the grand total value of gold won through Family Savari 14 to Rs 30 million.
At each of the six bi-monthly draws conducted, one winner received Rs 1 million in gold, two won Rs 250,000 each, five received Rs 100,000 each, 25 got Rs 50,000 each and another 70 received Rs 25,000 each.
The decision to present policyholders with gold instead of the customary overseas holidays and local excursions of the ‘Family Savari’ promotion was on account of the travel restrictions and safety precautions necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
