Standard Chartered Sri Lanka appoints Yamuna Silva as Head of Legal

Businesscafe - Standard Chartered Sri Lanka has appointed veteran professional Yamuna Silva as its Head of Legal with effect from 13 September 2021, the Bank announced recently.

By way of her appointment, she also becomes a member of the Bank’s Country Management Team.

A 25-year veteran of industry, Yamuna is a Legal Counsel with extensive exposure into Banking Law, Business Advisory on Banking, Labour Tribunal, Conveyancing, Trademark, Securitisation and Company Secretarial work.


Yamuna served renowned law firms prior to entering the banking industry, and will bring to bear her experience in various fields of Law to provide unique and valuable perspectives as she supports Standard Chartered Sri Lanka’s business strategy.

Yamuna joined Standard Chartered from Nations Trust Bank (NTB), where she served as Vice President Legal. During her tenure at NTB, she led the bank’s legal team in the formulation of its digital banking platform – FriMi.

Yamuna is an Attorney-at-Law, a Notary Public and a Company Secretary with an Honours degree (First Class) from the Sri Lanka Law College.


She was a Mentor of Sri Lanka’s first ever Fin Tech Hackathon ‘FINTECHACK’ held in 2017, organised by Nations Trust Bank.
