The Mobitel Enterprise SMS Solution - Pilot Project kicked-off recently at the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the CPSTL Kolonnawa Installation premises recently, under the patronage of Chairman/MD of Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited, Major General M.R.W. De Zoysa and Mr. Manju Fernando Chief Officer – Enterprise Business Development of Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd.

The island-wide petroleum retail sellers and consumers will be notified via a system generated SMS message. The SMS will comprise of invoice, product and vehicle exit details.


The pilot project will act as a catalyst for the necessary research R&D for the expansion of SMS related services to customers such as,

 Acceptance of Sales orders.


 Providing dealer/consumers with broadcast messages such as price revisions, Introduction of new products etc.

 Facility to make complaints via SMS.

Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited is responsible for approximately 95% of the country’s petroleum deliveries including aviation fuel.


CPSTL is the first of its’ kind to implement a state-of-the-art enterprise resource planning system, (SAP IS-OIL) Implementation in Sri Lanka in the year 2010.


CPSTL is currently serving more than 500 SAP users scattered around 27 plants island-wide, belonging to Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Lanka Indian oil PLC and CPSTL.

Major General M.R.W. De Zoysa, Chairman/MD of CPSTL stated that, CPSTL’s objective is to provide a better service to its customers, while contributing to the government of Sri Lanka’s e-governance initiative, which is to apply Information, and Communication Technology (ICT) for assisting the government for efficient and meaningful delivery of an essential service to the nation.

He further stated that, CPSTL is now exploring innovative avenues and approaches to improve customer relationship management by providing real-time information to the customers with the support of enthusiastic SAP end users, dedicated IT staff and the proactive CPSTL Management.
