“AmCham is proud to be hosting this Tournament for the 18th consecutive year.
We are equally honoured to partner FedEx – a world renowned US brand also strongly associated with golf.
The team have gone into great detail for the upcoming tournament, to make an impression on the golfing community”, said Radika Obeyesekere – Executive Director, AmCham.
Teeing off at the Royal Colombo Golf Course (RCGC) on 2nd September 2017, the tournament is rapidly growing into a popular fixture in Sri Lanka’s golf circuit, with the number of participants having expanded drastically over the previous year as competitors square-off on one of the most prestigious courses in Asia.
In particular, the tournament is expected to draw in large numbers of golfers from both the AmCham and RCGC membership.
Commenting on the significance of this year’s tournament, licensee of Federal Express Corporation in Sri Lanka, Mountain Hawk Express (MHE) CEO, Sanjeeva Abeygoonewardena stated:
“We take great pride in the growing involvement of FedEx in Sri Lanka.
Having partnered with the AmCham Golf Tournament for the past two years, we are now eager to contribute as much as we can towards raising the profile of golf in the country.
This ties in well with the strong and nurturing ties that FedEx continues to maintain with the sport of golf internationally, most notably with the PGA tour and the FedEx cup.”
Played to an individual Stable ford format, each player will have the opportunity to purchase up to 4 Mulligans.
Part proceeds of the Tournament will support a charity nominated by RCGC.
Over the years, the Tournament has supported the caddy community of RCGC and the Navodaya Foundation, amongst many other such initiatives.
“It is a great honor for us at Mountain Hawk Express to be involved in the promotion of the sport of golf in Sri Lanka.
We are confident that this tournament will grow into a strong platform for local talent to develop and achieve international standards with the support of institutions such as AmCham.
We look forward with great enthusiasm to the future of this sport in Sri Lanka,” MHE Chief Operating Officer/General Manager, Chamila Bandara said.
