This event is the oldest symposium in forestry and environment sectors in the South Asian region and it is annually organised by the Department of Forestry and Environment Science of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

When interviewed the Chief Executive Director of Sadaharitha Group of Companies Mr. H.K. The Chair of the Forestry and Environment Symposium, Dr. Upul Subasinghe, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, who is a pioneer researcher in sandalwood and agarwood of Sri Lanka and overseas said that it is very much encouraging for the researchers to be supported by the industry sector for presenting their findings because those findings are utilised by the industry and policy makers of the country for the betterment of the economy and the environment.
