Coinciding with the release of the official schedule for the six race meets that will make up the 2015 CEAT SLADA Championship, CEAT’s announcement of its continuing support to motor racing provides added thrust to the plans for the year’s racing calendar.
The CEAT SLADA Championship season begins on 17th April with the Foxhill Supercross for all classes of motorcycles, and encompasses the Sigiriya Supercross (16th – 17th May), Cavalry Supercross (13th – 14th June), Gunners’ Supercross (4th – 5th July), Gajaba Supercross (29th – 30th August), and the Rotherham KatukurundaCircuit Meet (17th – 18th October).
The 2015 CEAT SLADA Championship awards ceremony is scheduled for 21st November 2015.
Speaking at the formal signing of the title sponsorship agreement with SLADA, CEAT Kelani Holdings Vice President Sales & Marketing Ravi Dadlani said:
“This is the sixth year overall that CEAT is supporting motor racing in Sri Lanka, and the third year in partnership with SLADA.
It is a privilege for CEAT to be a key sponsor of SLADA and of several race events conducted by the Sri Lanka Army and the Air Force.
We are committed to support whatever steps necessary to raise the standard of the sport.”
SLADA President Major (Retired) Dilhan Jayawardena thanked CEAT Kelani Holdings for taking title sponsorship of the 2015 championship and said the company has consistently supported the motor racing fraternity for a number of years.
“CEAT has been a great sponsor and supported us in many ways to live the game,” he said.
Established by a team of drivers, riders and officials to take motorsports in Sri Lanka to the next generation, SLADA has introduced the latest technology in timing and equipment to meet the demands of this rapidly changing sport.
To ensure that race events are a success, the Association has nominee representatives from the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Air Force on its executive committee, a first for any racing association in the country.
Besides its sponsorship of the CEAT SLADA Championship and its support to the race meets conducted by the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Air Force, CEAT also fields its own racing team at many of these meets, supporting and encouraging individual drivers to improve on their performances.
CEAT Kelani Holdings has also supported the sport’s governing body Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS) since 2012.
As part of its partnership with SLAS, CEAT Kelani Holdings is the principal sponsor of all Ford Laser/Mazda 1300cc and 1500cc ‘One Make’ racing events conducted during the year, at which all competing drivers race on CEAT radial tyres.
A global tyre brand present in 110 countries and now headquartered in India, CEAT is an acronym that stands for Cavi Electrici Affini Torino, or Electrical Cables & Allied Products of Turin, with origins that date back to 1924 in Italy.
CEAT Kelani Holdings manufactures half of Sri Lanka’s pneumatic tyre requirements, and CEAT is the highest selling radial tyre brand in the country.
