These agents had the privilege of receiving their awards from Richard Peiris and Company group director Prof. Lakshman R Watawala and general manager Mr. Pradeep Samaratunga.
This annual dealer convention of the company held under the theme ‘Rajagamane Gauroththmachara’ was graced by India’s Birla Tire Company’s international sales wing head Asish Kumar and Asian (India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh) managing director of the famous Nexen Tire Company in Korea, J K Choi.
Fifty five sales agents from the tire retreading sector and ten agents from the tire trading sector received special awards at this annual convention.
The prestigious award for the best dealer of the tire retreading sector (covering the whole island) was clinched by Dikwella Shanthi Tire Mart (Pvt) Ltd managing director Mrs. H M T J Shanthiratne. Second and third prizes went to Rambukkana Sisira Tire house owner Mr. W A W W Sisira Kumara and Balangoda Jayanthi Tire Center owner Mr. A P Ambagahawatte.
Similarly, the prestigious award for the best dealer of the tire trading sector (covering the whole island) was secured by Pannala Hiruni Tire House owner Mr. I A Karunatilleke. Second and third prizes in this category went to Anuradhapura Auto Tire ways (Pvt) Ltd managing director Mr.P A Sunil Premaratne and Dikwella Shanthi Tire Mart (Pvt) Ltd managing director Mr. H M T J Shanthiratne.
This high-status award ceremony also felicitated agents with the awards; ‘Upahara Abhiyasa’, ‘Upahara Gaurava’ and ‘Kalapa Abhimani.’ Gold awards were given to respective sales agents in recognition of their dedicated services towards dealing with the brands.
The award ceremony was followed by the usual family get-together of the dealers on the following day coupled with cookery programs and game shows for children. Here, Prof Sarath Wijesuriya delivered a speech with much substance on ‘positive thinking’.
Addressing the ‘Rajagamane Gauroththmachara’ felicitation ceremony, Richard Peiris Tire Company managing director Mr. Pradeep Samaratunga said, the company accepts around 45,000 tires monthly for rebuilding.
“Out of these 45,000 tires, around 5,000 go on waste due to negligence by the end users. Our sales agents can work towards minimizing this wastage by educating the customers. Our company’s sole ambition is to provide ARPIDAG tires of high standard to our customers, at the right price and at the right time”, said Samaratunga.
Richard Peiris Tire Company was formed in 1932. In 1942, the company ventured into rebuilding tires and thus went to the history as the Sri Lanka’s pioneering tire rebuilding company. Since then the company went from strength to strength and in 1991 with the association of USA’s BANDAG Company, ‘ARPIDAG’ tire was introduced to the local market. This was a revolutionary step taken by a local company dealing with tires.
Richard Peiris Tire Company being the biggest tire rebuilding company in Sri Lanka, supplies at present over 50,000 DAG tires and conventional type rebuilt tires during a month to the local market.
