It was back in 2008 when the AF10 was revealed in production guise and now eight years later the supercar is being given a thorough update to keep up with the times.
Its heart and soul is an extremely powerful hybrid arrangement consisting of a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine working together with four electric motors.
The conventional engine is capable of pushing out an immense 900 horsepower (671 kilowatts) and 886 pound-feet (1,200 newton meters) whereas the electric motors have a combined output of 1,180 hp (880 kW) and 797 lb-ft (1,080 Nm).
This gives the all-wheel-drive 2016 AF10 a total hybrid power of 2,080 hp (1,551 kW) and a gigantic 1,683 lb-ft (2,280 Nm).
The hardware arrangement enables the AF10 to hit 62 miles (100 km) per hour in less than three seconds before topping out at more than 201 mph (232 kph).
The combustion engine sends its power to the wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional automatic transmission featuring paddles.
Each electric motor is equipped with a two-speed gearbox and teamed up to the 32-kWh lithium-ion battery which in “Race” mode is automatically recharged via the quad electric motors that act as generators.
The 13-piece carbon reinforced chassis is connected to a body manufactured from carbon fiber reinforced plastic featuring an aluminum honeycomb sandwich construction.
It rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires and benefits from an electro-hydraulic lifter to avoid scratches when going over speed bumps.
Besides the mental AF10, Arash also has a more humble AF8 Cassini which gets a GM-sourced 550-hp 7.0-liter V8 with 476 lb-ft (645 Nm) delivered through a six-speed manual transmission.
The hardware package is wrapped in a carbon fiber body that weighs just 2,645 pounds (1,200 kg, dry).
It runs the sprint in three and a half seconds and has a top speed of more than 196 mph (315 kph).
Both the AF8 and AF10 will be shown in the metal in Geneva at the beginning of next month.
Pricing kicks off at £350,000 for the V8 model, followed by the AF10 at £1.1M.
The latter can also be had in a Racer guise with a roll cage, fire extinguisher and other extras that jack up the price to £1.2M.
