A highlight at the event was UTE's launch of “Cat Connect™” a solution which uses technology to allow customers total control of their remote worksites from the comfort of their local office. Using the data from technology-equipped machines, users get more information and insight into their equipment and operations than ever before. The correct combination of Cat connect technologies will result in improved safety, enhanced production and a reduction in cost, allowing for more sustainable and successful business operations.
Another innovation which drew much interest at the UTE Stall was Netbiter™, a remote monitoring solution that allows users to monitor and control the operation of industrial equipment including Power Generators.
While Caterpillar Technology Application Specialist M Madhusudhan held special industry seminars to educate local contractors about the novel Cat Connect technology, the UTE stall had live demonstrations of several technologies which come under Cat Connect, giving customers a feel of what they can expect in future Construction sites. In the past, UTE had launched related technologies such as Product Link and Accugrade, which have garnered significant attention and improved profitability among the local construction companies.
In terms of new products, UTE launched the Cat 320D2 hydraulic excavator and the much awaited M315D2 Wheel excavator at the event. These attracted significant interest and saw crowds flocking to UTE's 10,000 square foot stall, which was the focal point of Construct 2014.
UTE also displayed a wide range of power generators, material handling equipment and welding products in separate stalls.
Apart from new products, UTE’s capability in providing state of the art training was also demonstrated; attracting the attention of interested students looking to follow careers in the electrical and mechanical sphereswho received firsthand experiences from UTE’s current students.
Construct 2014 was ceremonially declared open by President Mahinda Rajapakse, who was the Chief Guest of the event. Other dignitaries who attended included the Minister of Construction WimalWeerawansa and Minister of Education BandulaGunawardena. Construct 2014 which was held for the 14th consecutive year is organized by National Construction Association of Sri Lanka and is widely considered as the premier exhibition in the industry.
