Gayan brings over two decades of experience in telecommunications sector.
His illustrative career began with Dialog Telecom twenty-two years ago before moving to Malaysia’s national telecommunication carrier, Telekom Malaysia, where he was involved in strategic roles encompassing M&A and business development initiatives across Asia and the Middle East.
In 2007, he joined Axiata Group Berhad, where his experience expanded to include mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and business development projects encompassing various communication technologies.
In 2012, Gayan became a founding member of EDOTCO Group, delivering a strategic carve-out initiative of infrastructure from Axiata’s mobile network operators.
EDOTCO Group became the largest independent tower infrastructure company in Malaysia, serving as a model for expansion into emerging markets like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Pakistan, Philippines and Indonesia.
Today, EDOTCO Group owns and manages more than 54,000 towers across nine markets.
Besides his local role as Country Managing Director, Gayan holds two key positions at EDOTCO Group as Director of Group Strategy and Director of Malaysia Business.
His strategic foresight and leadership have been instrumental in steering the growth trajectory of EDOTCO Group, influencing key themes such as 5G, network disruption, digital economy, digital transformation, and inter-generational opportunities.
