Dell “Save the Waves’’ First Phase Inaugurated in Galle together with Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) ( 11 Photos )

The first phase of the biannual Beach Clean-up organized by Dell Technologies successfully concluded on 5th October covering beaches in the vicinity of Galle.

More than 70 volunteers participated in the clean-up which featured Road to Rights who backed the crew and Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) who endorsed the project and provided valuable technical support.


The crew first took up the challenge of cleaning the beach near Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel in Dadella, Galle and moved to Jungle Beach to complete the clean-up phase in Galle.


After covering beaches around Galle, the plastics collected were packed into lorries and transported to the recycler who is partnered with the project.


The volunteers lined up for the project with gloves, garbage bags and completed the task within the day and had an interesting day filled with fun and excitement.


Dell provided them with caps, t-shirts and safety measures were being prioritized and observed.


After this successful effort, the next phase of the project will roll out in Trincomalee followed by the Kalutara and Uswetakeiyawa beaches respectively to mark the end of the project with a event set to unfold on 26th of October, reviewing and celebrating the progress of the whole project.
