Organised by Crysbro’s Human Resources Division, this year’s event expects the participation of over 650 children of employees.
The Art Competition is open to the children of all employees, and the poetry competition is open to all employees.
Winners will be given financial rewards, and the winning arts and poems will be printed on school exercise books which will be given to the children, along with other gifts.
“Despite the challenging times we are facing with the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, we are hosting the annual Art and Poetry Competition as usual.
We want to occupy our loyal employees and their beloved children away from the negative and tragic events we experience on a daily basis, and away from the adverse mental state it develops.
Therefore I am confident that just like previous years, there will be a great contribution from our staff and their children towards this tournament,” commented Ranjana Mahindasiri, Group Human Resources and Administration Manager at Crysbro.
“Co-curricular as well as extra-curricular activities such as art, dance and music are more conducive to skills development in children through intellectual development.
By directing children to all these activities instead of focusing children on one aspect, we will be able to create a future generation full of motivated attitudes and resourceful skills,” he added.
In 2019, Crysbro hosted the annual Art Competition, organised for the children of Crysbro employees.
12 best drawings were selected from these participants and were included as artwork on the ‘Crysbro Calender 2020’, while another 19 pictures were selected to be printed on school exercise books.
For the past 20 years, Crysbro has been donating exercise books and school equipment to school children and the children of their employees who work in all Crysbro business centres, under the Sisu Diriya programme.
Additionally, Crysbro undertook another initiative to hand out school essentials such as books, gift vouchers and financial rewards for 896 children who passed their Grade-5 Scholarship Exam in 2019, as well as those who sat for the GCE O/Level and A/Level examinations.
The Sisu Diriya initiative has also grown to include book donations to libraries of rural schools, while also establishing the necessary infrastructure for them.
Crysbro also launched a social service to improve the library premises of those schools located in the vicinity of the 17 business centres, and has taken steps to host this initiative annually.
