Prof. Jayantha Wijeyaratne - Director of IIT stated, “Today, we are living in a knowledge-based world.

The world is changing rapidly and the requirements are constantly changing.

We have to adapt to all these changes and in order to do that we must continue to develop our knowledge and skills.

Nowadays, having one degree is not sufficient to survive in this fast-changing world.

You must strive to gain more knowledge and skills in your chosen areas and you can certainly achieve that by doing a world-class postgraduate degree.

By tapping into our long-standing ties with reputed British universities we have identified that the skills made available through these postgraduate programmes are what you need for the future.”

After elaborating on the background and logistical aspects of the degree programmes, Naomi Krishnarajah – Dean of IIT added, “These degree programmes will help develop important transferable skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking, effective communications, entrepreneurial spirit, ability to think globally while also engaging with local communities as well as the ability to be socially, ethically and environmentally aware.

By fostering these skills you all will be able to get promotions in your respective workplaces and further your careers.

You must ensure that you not only follow the course content but also develop skills that will help you wherever you go in life.”

Providing some invaluable tips to the students, Dr. Sankalpa Gamwarige - General Manager / Vice President - Engineering of Zone24x7 stated, “A postgraduate degree is one of the best investments you can make in life.

You have to invest both time and money, out of which your time is the most important.

All of you come with different levels of theoretical and practical knowledge.

So, be ready to learn a lot from each other. Group work and teamwork are very important.

You also have to read a great deal as there is a lot of content to take in.

Course content and textbooks will lead you to interesting, relevant outside content via blogs, podcasts, videos and websites.

In the end, it all boils down to work-life balance and how you manage your time during these 2 years.

Life will present many challenges but you have the power to decide you how you invest your time to achieve your career and life goals.”
