McLarens wins 12th Elephant House Lemonade Trophy

The finals of the 12th annual Elephant House Lemonade Trophy “D” division Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) tournament were held recently, where the McLarens team won this highly anticipated league match, overwhelming the runner-up HSBC "A" team by 31 runs.

Sponsored annually by Ceylon Cold Stores, the ever-popular Elephant House Lemonade Trophy is a long-running fixture in the MCA league.


This 40-over cricket tournament often features as many as 12 mercantile league teams coming together yearly to compete for glory on the cricketing pitch.

Commenting on the successful conclusion of 2015's Elephant House Lemonade Trophy, Ceylon Cold Stores Head of Beverages, and John Keells Holdings Vice President, Daminda Gamlath said, "The Elephant House Lemonade Trophy, now in its 12th year, has exceeded our greatest expectations, becoming a very popular tournament in the Mercantile Cricket Association league and attracting very talented players and teams every year.


This year's win by McLarens over HSBC 'A' was no exception, signalling the continued importance of this tournament to the league.
