"Cats have always run the Internet" - JinglePunks CEO on why agency's Meow Mix is so popular

On the day that the internet's most popular cat, Grumpy Cat, will debut her first movie on Lifetime, the chief executive and chief creative officer of JinglePunks, Jared Gutstadt has discussed the popularity of its Meow Mix music video from earlier this year.

The Meow Mix video, a dance tune remix of the brand jingle, created alongside FCB Chicago and DJ Ashworth, has racked up over 1.5 million views on YouTube along since it was released in August.

Gutstadt told, why he believed cats had proven to be such a phenomenon online?

“Cats have always run the Internet. It's a fact of life. If you combine music and cats it's like a nuclear bomb wrapped in dynamite, metaphorically speaking.

No one knows where cats actually come from or if they're real animals, all we know is that they live on earth and people like them a lot. so we paired them with two of the world’s most popular music genres right now – EDM and country – to create the layer of entertainment that great online content demands today.”

Newer versions of the remix have since been created, while Jingle Punks has also followed up with another cat featuring video; 'J.R. Moore's Country Cat'.
