The band has commenced writing new music and recorded drums for a brand new song with Harshan Gallage at the helm behind the kit for a new anthem titled ‘Stellae’ (which is Latin for Stars).
It's wonderful to see Harshan back and active like this after a few years of absence from the scene.
The recording took place at J & S Studios, Pannipitiya under the watchful supervision of CEO Steve Anderson, Sound Engineer Ruskhan Subasinghe, Studio Manager Delaine Silva and the finance manager Michael Loos.
The studio also is abode to Lasitha Gunawardana who is the Music Director.
‘Stellae’ is a new epic lush with sweeping melodies, furious groove, progressive finesse and a catchiness reminiscent of Stigmata’s most loved anthems that’s bound to be a loved opus in the time to come.
A song that will melt hearts as it will stimulate provocative thought as the song tackles the complex theme of the human condition; the fight or flight plight within our deepest consciousness when faced with crises in life said frontman Suresh de Silva.
Tenny has completed all epic guitars and Thisara his trademark bass on the track – and insiders who have listened to the raw tracks alone testify that the bass and guitars sound absolutely huge.
Frontman Suresh will enter the studio to record vocals in the coming week.
‘Stellae’ is rife with grinding, groovy, rhythms, captivating bass lines, infectious guitar solos, one of the most melodic choruses ever conceived by the band, and intricate, pulsating drums in momentous variation.
The song will be released an official single and video release in September or October this year.
However, you can catch the quintet performing the song live at all their up coming events, even on Saturday the 27th August live at Tap House by R ‘n R.
When Stigmata was asked why they opted to record the new anthem at J & S Studios, Stigmata axeman rhythm/lead guitarist Tenny said:
‘It was a no-brainer really because we have tied up with J & S as our official rehearsal studio and the guys there are absolutely professional to the letter T (by the way my name also starts with T – kekekek ?) and supportive.
They have a cutting-edge facility and a team that’s on the ball and very passionate about supporting original artists, but they are super down to earth guys and also know what they are doing, take time and motivate us to give our best performances while recording.
We had a great experience with them and look forward to working on new music with them!’
J & S Studios was opened on the 1st January 2020, during the pandemic.
Its unique architecture was designed by Steve and Rukshan, converting an empty residence into a fully fledged studio in 2 months at the height of the pandemic.
J & S Studios informed Good PR that it is home to an array of diverse talent, artists both celebrated and new from all genres of music.
The studio’s objective is to support new emerging artists to develop creative content having professional guidance and access to the latest tech solutions for recording and rehearsing.
The studio in two years have produced over 30 local productions and 8 commercial large-scale productions.
CEO Steve Andeerson commented that J & S has even spread its wings to the Maldives, having opened a state-of-the-art studio facility with an effort to tap into the international market and promote local talent with the objective of re-routing dollars to the Sri Lankan economy.
J & S are proud to have collaborated and worked with senior Sri Lankan artists having produced their singles and albums, even international projects.
The merging of Sri Lanka’s favourite progressive sons of sonic anarchy and the nation’s top new state of the art studio facility is a marriage made in the cosmos.
