Launched at CFW Swim Week Colombo 2016, Active POP is inspired by pop art culture and sporty silhouettes.
Rum Punch designs are crafted for the discerning woman who is on trend and on point with her style choices.
With the promise of high tides, sunny skies and good vibes, the collection champions sporty and exciting swimwear silhouettes for their hip and stylish customers.
The brand believes in diversity at the beach, including sizes ranging from XS to XL, and recently introduced covered silhouettes to its collection.
Rum Punch Co-Founder and Chief Designer Rukshika Fernando Seneviratne collaborated with local artists Ruwangi Amarasinghe, Hash Bandara and Umanga Samarasinghe for the pop art inspired prints which were influenced by the work of Roy Lichtenstein, the American pop artist who became a leading figure in the new art movement alongside Andy Warhol and James Rosenquist.
Lichtenstein was struck by the comic strip and often took inspiration from comic books and advertising for tongue in cheek social commentary.
The prints embody the headily vibrant colour palette that both Rum Punch and pop art are known for.
“For us as artists and designers, working with pop art as inspiration was a design dream come true – it was an amazing and fun experience,” says Rukshika.
“As a brand Rum Punch is about bold, vibrant colours and prints and silhouettes that make you feel ready to have the time of your life, and I think this collection encapsulates all of that perfectly.”
The brand worked closely with MAS Linea Aqua to manufacture the garments to their exact specifications.
From high neck, padded and ruffled one pieces to crop tops and long sleeved swimwear, the collection keeps some classic Rum Punch trademarks such as contrast binding and reversible swimwear.
Some pieces have already been worn by high profile Rum Punch fans such as Angelia Ong, Miss Earth 2015 and Brittany Payne, Miss Earth Water 2015.
The collection, which is available for viewing at www.rumpunchresortwear.com, was also featured in the September 2016 issue of Cosmopolitan Sri Lanka.
