The Elegance Collection will usher in the festive season with offerings handpicked from India and Bangladesh for their distinctive style.
Mulberry was founded by sisters Nadira and Azra Abdul Cader, who present an exquisite collection of saris from the region for women looking for that extra special something in their six yards of elegance.
The two sisters were inspired to launch the label in 2012 in response to their own often unsuccessful search for affordable, contemporary and elegant saris.
“Getting ready for the wedding and party season would be such a hassle because it was impossible to find the sari for each occasion,” recalls Nadira.
“I knew Azra was frustrated as well, so we started looking at options in India and Bangladesh while traveling and realized we could share our finds with other women in Colombo facing the same problem.”
Mulberry’s focus is on contemporary elegance with an affordable price tag. Over the last few years, Mulberry’s clientele has come to expect tasteful saris for occasion wear and casual wear in a range of colours and textures, always with a hint of the contemporary.
The saris feature varying textures, weaves and patterns from the subcontinent, shot through with a vibrant colour palette.
Mulberry also offers a wide range of fashion jewellery and a limited collection of kurthas.
The focus is on quality and exclusivity, says Azra.
“What sets us apart is that Nadira and I have always been committed to bringing down saris that fit our label’s image perfectly.
Our clients want something unique and elegant, and that’s exactly what we bring to them.”
The new Elegance Collection features a range of silks, cottons, silk-cotton, kurtas and raw silks in on-trend colours and hues.
Visit the pop-up store at Colombo Courtyard, 32, Alfred House Avenue, Colombo 03 on 10 December from 10 am to 6pm to dress up your wardrobe for the season.
