Mr Reese runs the Cricket Live Foundation, an organisation operated in partnership with the Merrill J. Fernando Charitable Foundation. Sir Richard Hadlee, Patron of the Cricket Live Foundation is also involved in the initiative which aims to provide disadvantaged children an opportunity to learn life skills through cricket.
“Our kids have really enjoyed a private coaching session with Stephen Fleming, and appreciate the support of the New Zealand Government for what we and our supporters are doing in Sri Lanka.
“Currently we have three Cricket Education Centres in Sri Lanka and we are extremely privileged to work with the MJF Foundation. Coaches and teaches from New Zealand are responsible for educating a large pool of local Sri Lankan coaches, who in turn, are responsible for running our initiative,” says Mr Reese.
“New Zealand and Sri Lanka share a passion for cricket; and it has been a pleasure to see the New Zealand and Sri Lanka cricket connection in action today at De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa,” says Mr Fleming.
Minister Guy and Mr Fleming are visiting Sri Lanka this week to promote the upcomingICC Cricket World Cup 2015. New Zealand is co-hosting the World Cup and Stephen Fleming is accompanying Minister Guy in his role as the NZ Champion ahead of the 2015 tournament.
Sri Lanka will play New Zealand in the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Christchurch on 14 February.
